Sounds and music
Search, preview, save, and add Freesound music or sound effects to your timeline, then mix them with voice and video audio.
The Sounds tab helps you find sound effects and music, preview them, and add them to your project. Sound search depends on Freesound configuration.
Open the Sounds tab
- Open a project.
- Click Sounds in the left asset panel.
- Search for music, ambience, or sound effects.

Browse and search sounds
The Sounds panel can include:
- Search results.
- Popular or top sound effects.
- Music results.
- Saved sounds.
- Commercial-use filtering.
- Sorting and search controls.
Use the commercial-use filter when the final video is for client work, ads, or business content.
Preview before adding
- Search for a sound.
- Click play on a result.
- Listen for quality, length, and noise.
- Check whether it fits the scene.
- Add only the sounds you need.
Previewing avoids filling the media bin with unused audio.
Add a sound to the project
- Find the sound.
- Click Add or Save.
- Wait for import.
- The sound appears as an audio asset.
- Drag it to an audio track.
- Trim, move, fade, and mix it.
Saved sounds tab
Saved sounds are sounds you have added or kept for reuse in the project.
Use saved sounds for:
- Repeated whooshes.
- Button clicks.
- Branding stingers.
- Background ambience.
- Frequently used music beds.
Add music under speech
- Add voice or video speech to the timeline.
- Add music on a lower audio track.
- Select the music clip.
- Lower its volume in Audio properties.
- Add fade in and fade out.
- Preview with headphones.
If speech is hard to understand, music is too loud.
Add sound effects to actions
- Place the playhead on the visual action.
- Add the sound effect near that point.
- Zoom into the timeline.
- Align the waveform peak to the visual moment.
- Lower volume if it feels harsh.
- Add a tiny fade if the cut clicks.
Configuration requirements
Sounds and music require Freesound API configuration in the editor app.
If the tab is unavailable or search returns no configured-provider message, ask your workspace admin to set up Freesound credentials.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Fix |
|---|---|
| Sounds do not load | Freesound may not be configured |
| Sound is too loud | Lower volume in Audio properties |
| Sound starts with a click | Add a very short fade in |
| Music hides voice | Lower music or use compression/ducking workflow |
| Search results are irrelevant | Use simpler keywords such as whoosh, hit, ambient |
