Keyboard shortcuts

Speed up manual editing with playback, timeline, selection, trimming, marker, linking, compound, undo, and media shortcuts.


Keyboard shortcuts make manual editing faster. Use them for playback, splitting, trimming, selection, markers, linking, compounds, and undo/redo.

Playback shortcuts

Selection shortcuts

Esc is useful when you start dragging or resizing and want to cancel before dropping.

Snapping helps align clips to edges, the playhead, and markers. Ripple editing helps close or create gaps automatically.

Best shortcut workflow

For rough cutting:

  1. Press Space to play.
  2. Pause at a cut point.
  3. Press S to split.
  4. Delete unwanted sections.
  5. Toggle ripple if you want gaps to close automatically.
  6. Add markers for beats or important moments.
  7. Use undo if a cut was too aggressive.

For precise finishing:

  1. Zoom into the timeline.
  2. Step frame-by-frame around edit points.
  3. Trim clip edges.
  4. Toggle snapping for alignment.
  5. Preview the section at normal speed.
