Save and replay recipes

Turn an edit sequence you like into a named recipe and replay it on next week's footage in one click — same cuts, captions, and style every time.

When the agent lands on an edit you like — the right silence trim, your caption skin, your reframe, your sound mix — you can save that exact sequence as a recipe and replay it on new footage later. Instead of re-describing your style every week, you rebuild it in one click. Recipes are global: save one in any project and it's available in every project.

What a recipe is

A recipe is a saved, replayable sequence of agent tool calls with their exact parameters — for example: cut_silencesauto_caption_styled (tiktok-bold) → auto_reframe_verticalauto_sound_design. Because each tool computes its edit from the current project plus its parameters, replaying the same steps on different footage reproduces the same treatment.

A recipe stores the steps and parameters only — not the media, and not the agent's reasoning. Replaying is a verbatim re-run, with no model involved.

Saving a recipe

There are two places to save one:

From a proposed edit. Turn on Review before applying (the settings control at the bottom-left of the composer). Now the agent's edits arrive as a "Proposed edit" card with Apply and Discard buttons — plus a circular-arrow icon button ("Save as a reusable recipe"). Click it, type a name, and hit Save. All tool steps in that proposal are captured with their exact parameters.

From a plan. Ask the agent to plan before editing:

Show me a plan first: cut the silences, caption it in tiktok-bold, reframe to 9:16, and mix the audio.

The plan card has Run plan, Discard, and the same save-as-recipe icon. Only the steps you've left enabled in the plan are saved, so you can untick a step before saving.

Prompts that produce recipe-worthy sequences:

Show me a plan first: tighten this talking head — remove silences and filler words, captions in boxed-contrast, vertical reframe, music at a low bed.

Plan it before editing: my podcast treatment — best 60 seconds from the transcript, face-focused reframe, captions, sound design.

Propose a plan: UGC-ad polish — ugc-ad style pack, a hook from the transcript, captions, and a CTA card at the end.

Replaying a recipe

Open the agent panel on a fresh chat: your saved recipes are listed under Your recipes, each with its step count. Click one and every step is re-planned against the current project, then shown as a single Recipe card summarizing what it will change. Click Apply to run it (or Discard). Applied recipe edits are undoable like any other agent edit.

If a step doesn't fit the new footage (say, a step that targets media the project doesn't have), that step reports a failure in the card instead of silently guessing — the remaining steps still apply.

To delete a recipe, click the trash icon next to it in the Your recipes list.

Recipes vs. templates and style packs

Creator templates (tiktok-highlight, podcast-clip, …) and style packs (viral-cut, clean-educator, …) are built-in, one-shot treatments. A recipe is your workflow: any combination of tools, with your parameters, in your order. Use a template when you want a known look fast; save a recipe when you've tuned a sequence you'll repeat. See /docs/agent/creator-templates and /docs/agent/style-packs.

Limits

  • Replaying is exact, not adaptive. Steps saved with footage-specific parameters (explicit timestamps, media ids) may not suit different footage — the agent doesn't re-think a recipe. For adaptive re-edits, prompt the agent instead.
  • Recipes are saved in your browser. They follow you across projects on this device, but not to another device or browser.
  • Saving from a proposed edit requires Review before applying, which is off by default and resets each session (auto-apply is the default experience).
  • Read-only steps (checks, analysis) in a plan are saved and replayed too, but they only report — they never change the timeline.
